Thoracic Extension

The prone thoracic extension aka the 'book opener' stretch is one of the best exercises to get more mobility through your chest and your upper back as well as strengthening your postural muscles. Improving your thoracic spine rotation can help to improve back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain.

To perform this exercise, lie face down on the floor with your head resting in your hands and elbows to the side. Start with your head down and then push your hands and your elbows into the ground, looking up with your chest and head. Hold this for a second and then slowly come back down to the ground. Make sure that throughout this movement your hands and elbows do not move.
