Standing Single Leg Balance

This standing single leg balance exercise is one of the best ways to ensure stability when out and about in the community, and to decrease your risk of falls.

To perform this exercise, start by standing on one leg and holding this position for 30 seconds, ensuring you complete this on both legs. If you find this too hard, you can adjust this by standing with both feet closely together and holding this position. If these are too easy, you can progress this exercise by standing on one foot on a rolled up towel or foam.

Try to avoid swaying your hips and knees side to side throughout all these movements, and always ensure that you perform these types of balance exercises in a safe space with something to hold on to if need be.
